It's the most wonderful time of the year... Fall Premiere Time! (Not to mention football season!!!) So, on with it then:
Vampire Diaries
I went ahead and read the books back in May as soon as I learned of this show, so that I could get pumped up for a new vampire story to follow. Much to my surprise, the books(by LJ Smith) were actually written back in 1991, proving that no, this is not just another Twilight wannabe, since they preceded the first Twilight book by 14 years. The books were okay... I didn't love them, but I was intrigued enough to be excited for the show. Actually, not loving the books may work in my favor, because then if the show changes them too much I won't be so miffed. After watching the pilot episode... I'm in! Definitely kept my attention, and I'm actually thinking about rewatching the pilot before moving on to episode 2. I vote it's a keeper!
The Beautiful Life
When did the CW start rocking so hard? I went in to this show with very low expectations, but they were definitely exceeded! My only reasons for watching were that I am a longtime Mischa Barton fan, and I enjoy looking at male models... I took this show to be another skin-deep look at the scandalous lives of rich, beautiful people. I was surprised to find how likeable some of the characters are! Sara Paxton was adorable as nice girl, Rayna(sp?) and Ben Hollingsworth was sooo sweet as the Iowa farm boy, Chris. My only hope is that the writers don't too quickly turn these likable people into brats like most of the other characters.
90210
Same ol, same ol. Oh, except for the loss of Dustin Milligan as Ethan. What a shame! I just saw him appear in Extract, with Jason Bateman, looking wayyyy hotter than last season, so I was pretty excited to see him back in Beverly Hills, but no. He's moved to Montana or somewhere. Okay. Now who to love? Navid?? Dixon?? I think not. Maybe they'll keep bad boy cutie Liam around as a replacement? I can deal with that...
Melrose Place
Well, I only watched about half of the first season of the original Melrose, but already I like this one better. The premiere was pretty similar to 90210, with the money and the scandal and so on and so forth, but some of the characters are kind of interesting. I liked the murder mystery aspect of it, concerning the death of old version star Laura Leighton as Sydney. Michael Rady is adorable as usual. If you liked him on Greek as Max the geek, then you'll love him as whats-his-face the videographer on Melrose.
Gossip Girl
Very intrigued by the Serena-Carter in Europe looking for her dad storyline AND the Rufus and Lily's new son Scott using Vanessa to find them storyline! This season may shape up to be the best yet! Not to mention the addition of Joanna Garcia as Nate's new girl! LOVE HER! I was so sad when Privileged got cancelled... hopefully they will keep her around for a while on GG!
Wow... those are the 5 premieres I can think of that I've watched so far, and they're all from the CW! Why does this network get such bad ratings? I love it! :)
